Pink Tulips & Gumballs

Hi everyone
 I didn't realize I had this photo from the party and forgot to post. I love how the tulips and the gumballs look against the dark wood. This is where everyone had to guess how many gumballs were in the jar. Any guesses??
Actually this photo reminds me of spring, which is not too far away : )

Diya's Pink Party!

Hi Everyone
Saturday was a big day for my little niece who turned 1 ( well she turned 1 on Feb.14.11 but celebrated on Sat.) Here is the little munch kin :)

 It was my first time planning a party and to tell you the truth its a lot harder than it looks!!! I also didn't get some of the items as planned due to not feeling well!!! I could only make the cake and couldn't make the cupcakes as  originally planned. However we all had a great time and everyone went home with full bellies and a smile on their faces :)
Well in my case I overate :) lol!!!

 I have to say Thank you to 2 very special people who have inspired me to take this task on.  Natalie from Southern Belles Charm and Paula from Frog Prince Paperie. You guys have to check out their websites, because they really know how to  throw a party!!! My small scale party is nothing compared to these ladies!!! However I had a blast doing it and will definitely try it out again :)

Iron Cupcake-Toronto 2011

Hi Everyone
Guess who won????
Yesterday I attended the Iron Cupcake- Toronto hosted by Genevieve Griffin from For The Love of Cake. The designer who started the first Iron Cupcake franchise in Canada!  
There were 20 entries and the idea behind this Iron cupcake was to bake your item at home and then bring it in for judging. The secret ingredient was............. "chocolate".
 I decided to go with the classic chocolate cupcake with something......But what!!! So I tried a peanut butter cup, oh Henry bar and  Rolo candies. I brought the cupcakes into work and my "work sisters" determine which was their favourite. There was a lot of going back and forth, however it was decided that I was going to add a Rolo candy to the cupcake. The girls also said to stay true to what I'm used to doing and I wanted something elegant and representative of me. I used my blog as my inspiration and I envisioned a Parisian theme for my cupcake.  I showed the sketch to my friend Vanessa and she instantly said "French Kiss" and with that she went on to explain that there were these  new Hershey Kisses with caramel and to add that into the cupcake!!! So there you have it, that's how the "FRENCH KISS" cupcake came to be.

My chocolate cupcakes has a Hershey Kiss topped with a whipped cream Butterscotch pudding frosting. (Try saying that a couple times!!!)

Valentine Cupcakes

Hi Everyone,
This post is going to be short and sweet, but here are some cupcakes that I made several weeks back for a friends get together. She said to use Red and Black and this is what I came up with. I had made extras to try out the cut out fondant shapes. I wanted to play around with the designs and the below is what I came up with. Just a tip for anyone wanting to try this out. Plan ahead and don't expect them to look a like: )  Mine didn't, therefore you only see the 2 designs!!

Blue & Purple Abstract Cake

Hi Everyone

This weekend has been a crazy busy one!!! Firstly want to say that I'm so blessed to have an amazing group of friends in blog land that have been helping me and watching over me. So a Big Thank you to my blog friends:) You guys rock: )
The cake that I'm about to show you guys is my sister in laws birthday cake. However, the story of how this cake came about is pretty funny. My niece had called 3 days before my SIL birthday (Feb.04) and said that she wanted to order a cake for her mom and told me what she wanted. I told her to email me the details. She’s 9 years old and she loves to email!!!  
So this is what she emails me :


“We want a vanilla cake with light blue coloring whip cream on the top. The filling will be pineapple (can) and strawberry and with white whip cream put happy birthday mom on the top we want it on Friday how much will it charge for daddy? “ 

How cute is that?? : )
I couldn’t stop laughing. “How much will it charge for daddy?” damn I should have said a ridiculous amount!!!
Anyways, as you can tell I didn’t follow her exact instructions  because I was actually testing out a new filling to see if I could have the whipped fruit cream filling with a fondant cake. It was a vanilla cake with a pastry cream, whipped cream and fruit filling. Now thats a mouth full :) 
In the end both she and her mom loved it.!

Black & White Cupcakes

Hi Everyone
I’m so excited to show you some cupcakes that I made for a bridal shower a couple of weeks ago. I had made these same cupcake for a lady who works at a doctor’s office and she said to do whatever I wanted. I’ve always loved the look of black and white! So I played with the designs a bit, as you all might know by now is that I love making roses!! (really, I’m trying other flowers as well, but kind of hard to let go of my rose : )) I also love polka dots, so that was the 2nd design; the last one that I tried out was the cut out flowers!! Not my favourite but still looks ok.
After delivering the cupcakes, I got a call the next day from a lady who got the number from one of the ladies who works at the office. She said she wanted the same cupcakes for a Bridal shower!!! 
 These cupcakes were made for Amanda’s Bridal shower and it was a hit. I was told that if the bride hadn’t already ordered her cake, they would have wanted me to do it for them!! That was very sweet of them to say!
